About General Galactic
At General Galactic, our mission is to build a fossil-free future and revolutionize the world’s energy supply chain. We’re a seed-stage deeptech startup developing Genesis – a modular hardware platform that converts emissions into 100% fossil-free hydrocarbon fuel, directly compatible with today’s energy infrastructure. Our technology is built to enable the new era of clean energy independence on Earth, as well as the next generation of space missions beyond.
Job Description
You will work closely with the founders and technical team to develop critical technology for our systems. You’ll have extreme ownership over your work, move quickly, and operate with high agency. As we grow, there will be opportunities to expand your role with the company.

- Design, build, and operation of novel hardware
- Design of testing and experimentation to evaluate system performance
- Analyze data and provide recommendations for future development
- Modeling and simulation of system performance
- Oversee scale-up, integration, and manufacturing of your hardware from cradle to grave
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to design and scale up processes based on customer and internal requirements
- Ownership of outcomes and direct contribution to the growth of the company
Requirements
Successful applicants should have most of the following:
- 3+ years of experience directly working with hardware
- Experience with scale-up, manufacturing, and assembly/integration of commercial aerospace or energy projects
- Strong engineering background and first-principles approach to problem solving
- Ability to perform trade studies and technical analyses, and make clear recommendations using first principles even with incomplete or partial information
- Understanding of technical challenges associated with scaling and deploying a commercial hardware solution in the energy space
- Experience with data analysis in MATLAB, Python, or similar
- Experience with lab scale control systems (e.g. LabVIEW or other PLC)
- Strong degree of comfort in a laboratory and manufacturing environment
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment or similar
